winter time, fun time

The holidays were over but the girls still had the rest of their break from school to enjoy! Olivia and her pal Aleah attended the Beasley soccer camp for a few days. DeMarcus Beasley was in town and spent some time working with the kids. He's such an amazing soccer player and they learn so much from him. The girls love when he shows up to his camps!

While off of school Cece got the chance to spend some time with her old babysitter, Holly. She loves to go back and not only see Holly, but to see some of her pals that she used to spend every day with. Cece grew up with Holly and the fact that she can still spend time with her on her days off is so special. Holly is someone that we hope is always a part of our lives. She is one special lady!

During Christmas break Olivia and her pals made plans to go ice skating at our outdoor skating rink. They may not be pros, but that didn't stop them from having a super fun evening! They did look super cute all bundled up and in their skates.

Cece had a milestone during the break...her first sleepover at a friend's house. Her friend Phoebe invited her over for the night. Until then she had only spent the night with family members, so I held my breath hoping I would not get a call in the middle of the night. Of course I didn't, and she ended up having a fun night with her friend going to the YMCA, out to dinner and just goofing around.

The morning after Cece's sleepover we woke up to a decent amount of snow on the ground. So what do you do on a snow covered day...you go sledding! The girls bundled up and headed to some great hills in our neighborhood.

Christmas break was over and school was back in session. A week after going back Olivia had the day off for Martin Luther King Day. After some begging she convinced me to take her to get her ears double pierced with two of her friends. We met at the mall and one by one the girls got their second piercings. Goodness...these girls are growing up so fast!

At school Olivia was in the middle of some big art projects. As much as I would love to keep all of their art, there simply isn't enough room. So I have been taking pictures of some of their more impressive creations. I figured that would make it a little easier when it was time to let them go. Olivia's art projects have been especially interesting this year.

Things can get a little mundane in the middle of the winter so celebrating Valentine's Day is something the girls always look forward to. There is one tradition that we always make sure to find time for...making our heart shaped pizzas! The girls have become pros at this activity and this year their pizzas were more impressive than ever before! They tasted pretty darn good too!

We love sharing this holiday with our girls each year. They are our valentines and steal our hearts every day! Enjoying it while we can knowing that soon celebrating Valentine's Day with your parents will be the last thing they will want to do!

Olivia experience a first this winter and got the opportunity to go skiing. She had a few extra days off around President's Day and was invited to go skiing with a friend from school. So off they went to Boyne for the weekend. She was excited and nervous having never put on a pair of skis before, but of course she picked it right up and within a few hours she was a pro!

I was a bit nervous that she would get hurt, but I got regular updates from the parents throughout the weekend. To make the trip even more fun there were a bunch of other kids and families from her school at the same resort, so when she wasn't skiing she was hanging out with a huge group of school friends. The girl had the time of her life and can't wait to ski again. I think she is secretly hoping she will be invited to go back to Boyne again next year too!

The winter tends to be a slower time for soccer but Olivia did have one out of town tournament. Soccer tourneys are always a blast because when they aren't on the field they are swimming, eating pizza and hanging out in each other's hotel rooms. Regardless if they win or lose I am pretty sure that is her favorite part.

Even though winter seemed to drag on and on, clearly there was still plenty going on that helped to pass the time. We couldn't have been more excited to see February come to an end though. Ready for Spring!
